Marney Walker offers Reality Therapy Counselling and acts as a Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Lead Management Consultant from her own practice aptly named, “The Practice of Choice”.

She is currently employed part-time as a Wellbeing Counsellor at James Cook University after retiring as the University Chaplain in 2016.
For fourteen years she has practiced part-time as a Spiritual Director at the House of Prayer, Pimlico, Townsville which is accredited through CSD Australia and endorsed by the Australian Ecumenical Council of Spiritual Directors.
For many years prior to these activities she worked in mental health and alternative body-based therapies.
At the 2017 WGIUS conference “Diversity is Reality: Respect is Choice”: Marney co-presented “Building relationships between faiths on campus. The Interfaith Project at James Cook University”
In addition, she has co-presented at the Tertiary Campus Ministry Conferences in 2016, 2015 and 2014
Marney co-published an article in the International Journal of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy Spring 2018: “Building relationships between faiths and embracing diversity” and has previously co-published in the TCMA Journal.
Marney approaches all her work from the perspective of building relationships and takes every opportunity to introduce Dr William Glasser and Choice Theory as her inspiration and guide.
